As a top runner, Lamborghini also had problems.

On March 20, the defective products management center of the State Administration of market supervision issued a message that recently, Volkswagen (China) decided to recall some imported 2017-2019 Lamborghini Aventador S series vehicles manufactured between February 25, 2017 and May 29, 2019, totaling 90 vehicles from March 27, 2020.

It is reported that part of the vehicles recalled by Volkswagen (China) are due to improper software program of engine control unit. Under certain circumstances (before the vehicle is ready to stop, when the engine is close to idle speed after the user releases the accelerator), the engine cannot maintain the minimum idle speed, which may cause unexpected flameout. This will increase the possibility of vehicle accidents, and there are potential safety hazards.

Volkswagen (China) said it would upgrade engine control software for recalled vehicles free of charge through authorized dealers of Lamborghini brand to eliminate safety hazards.

It is worth mentioning that although the number of recalled vehicles is only 90, in fact, this number is not many.

Lamborghini recently released a performance report showing that it sold 8205 vehicles worldwide in the whole year of 2019, an increase of 43% compared with 2018. In 2019, Urus sold 4962 vehicles worldwide, accounting for more than 60%, Huracán sold 2139 vehicles, and Aventador sold 1104 vehicles.

Based on this figure, from February 2017 to may 2019, the Lamborghini Aventador series sold about 2200 vehicles in the world. According to such data calculation, the number of recalled vehicles accounted for 4% of global sales during this period.

In addition, according to the annual sales volume of 300 to 500 units sold in the Chinese market, the number of recalls will account for 7% to 15% of the Chinese market.

So the recall of Lamborghini Aventador S is not a trivial matter.

As a top runner in the world, Lamborghini Aventador S was recalled due to potential stall, which has a great impact. It can be predicted that the problems will have a certain adverse impact on its brand in the next few months. As for the specific direction, GPLP continues to pay attention to.
