On March 19, according to foreign media reports, Volvo recalled nearly 740000 vehicles around the world due to the failure of automatic emergency braking system (AEB).

Volvo did not deny this situation, and said that the automatic emergency braking system of some current models could not automatically brake under certain conditions and expected temperature. Fortunately, up to now, Volvo has not found any accidents caused by this problem.

It is reported that the recall covers a global scope, with a total of 736430 vehicles recalled, including 66700 in Sweden and 58600 in Germany. The recall batch is almost all models on sale of Volvo xc40, Volvo S60, Volvo V60, Volvo XC60, Volvo S90, Volvo V90, Volvo XC90, etc. produced from January 2019 to March 2020.

As for Chinese market, the relevant head of Volvo cars announced on March 19: “at present, Volvo cars is filing the recall plan with the State Administration of market supervision, and the relevant recall process is in progress.”

In addition, Volvo said that affected users will receive recall information, and users can contact Volvo dealers to upgrade the system free of charge for problems caused by AEB.

In 2019, the global sales volume of Volvo cars is 705500, with a year-on-year growth of 9.8%. It has been the six consecutive years of sales growth of Volvo cars, and it is the first time that the sales of Volvo has exceeded 700000 since its establishment 93 years ago.

It can be seen that after Volvo was held by Geely, the overall market has made considerable progress.

But the fate is such a strange twists and turns. In less than four months, Volvo recalled nearly 740000 cars in the world due to this automatic emergency braking system fault, whose number has exceeded the total sales volume of Volvo’s global markets in 2019.

It can be predicted that due to the problems of Volvo this time, it will have a certain negative impact on its brand in the next few months. As for the specific direction, GPLP continues to pay attention to it.
